The 11th Hour

Summary Response

"If we continue the way we are going, the Earth will become like our sister planet Venus." "It's not about saving the environment. The environment will survive. It's us that won't." Such thoughts were ignited in my head when I was watching "The Eleventh Hour", a documentary on the diminishing condition of the Earth due to our "footprint". It's crazy to think of how modernization was always seen a beneficial step for humankind, but in reality its only further speeding up our demise. After watching the film and being exposed to shocking facts about how we are abusing our resources, I feel inspired to use my career path as a way to make a difference. Of course no one could single handedly "save the world". However, we all can do a small part. People often think that design is such a frivolous job consumed with making money. In actuality, designers carry this large responsibility to alter the direction we are moving in since we hold the ability to create the world around us. I am prepared to take on this challenge of positively affecting the world through design.

The first couple pictures are of a burning sunset. I found the inspiration from the idea that Earth may become the next Venus, a place too hot for our survival.

The last few images represent our lack of care and protection for our resources and environment.
